Here you can see a peek into the fabulous Millennium Cave Tour we did in Vanuatu along with a look at the kinds of debris that the US military dumped in the waters of Segond Channel after WWII.
THIS WEEK'S HAPPENINGS:
-On Monday New Zealand celebrated Guy Fawkes Day. I don't get this holiday. It commemorates a group of Catholic radicals in Britain who, in 1605, were foiled in their attempt to bomb the British Parliament building in the hopes of putting an end to Protestant rule. Guy Fawkes was one of these men. Today the day is marked primarily with fireworks displays throughout neighborhoods and communities. Apparently there is much debate surrounding the sale of fireworks, however. This year the minimum purchase age was upped to 18 in NZ and sales could only take place four days before the event. Helen Clark, the prime minister, warned Kiwis that they needed to behave or further action would take place in the future. I haven't heard about any major fires so I guess everyone passed muster.
-Earlier this year I wrote a last minute submission to be considered for a book. I didn't make the cut but I almost did, as an alternate. Man, that made me wish I'd spent more time on the article. But anyway the organization that published the book contacted me a bit ago and asked if they could use my article in their quarterly newsletter. You can find it online here: http://www.getsatisfied.org/ Go to the link for their newsletter and be sure to scroll down to the bottom. It's a cool organization. Check it out!
-We're staying home this weekend. It's cool and rainy and we're plum tired out. It's hard to believe that things are beginning to wind down already for us here. What will we possibly do next? Any ideas for us from the peanut gallery?

You guys went snorkeling? Now that's a vacation...! Love the photos - that underwater one is especially cool and eerie. :)
