Spring Has Sprung!

Susan and MK on Milford Sound cruise.

Ah, spring can be a glorious thing. There are cherry blossoms in full bloom, some gorgeous tulips and daffodils, and all of the wee lambies around town are just too adorable. Finally the reverse seasons seem odd to me. I keep thinking that Easter should be just around the corner, but it's almost October instead! Very confusing... The rest of the year it just looked all blase and the same--grey, wet, damp. We've had a string of fabulously sunny days and I hope they won't go away anytime soon.

My crazy Aussie friend Suz left today after a great visit. Despite my chaotic schedule we were able to show her quite a bit of Southland. It was pretty hysterical to have the local Yank show the Aussie around. People seemed very confused with that.

The choir concert went well despite my scratchy throat. The funniest part of the concert was when the conductor decided to spontaneously have the choir sing the New Zealand National Anthem at the end. It would have been nice to warn the foreigner standing front row center! I giggled my way through the Maori and English verses singing "watermelon, watermelon, la, la, la..." until proudly getting in the last line--"God Defend New Ze-ea-land!" Based on the many comments afterwards, this was apparently obvious and amusing for everyone.

While Susan was here we visited Riverton, Bluff, Milford Sound, and various places around Invercargill. I haven't downloaded my own pics yet but will post some when I get a spare moment.

This weekend John's on call, I have a vocal competition, and I have a zillion papers to grade and items to read. My voice is feeling a bit stronger this week, so hopefully the competition will go well. I have no idea what to expect, but I just want to have fun with it.

Oh, tonight we treated ourselves to seeing "Ratatouille". It was so much fun!
